Episode #64 Today's Hug: Patterns of Women, Session 5 – Stress Club
19/05/2020 Duración: 27minRemember when I introduced you to the concept of Interpretative Repertoires, or themes? Today we are going to talk about one of three overall ways women talked about stress, and that is as “the plight of women”. In order to best understand this we'll start with a little biology. I am not an expert on gender differences. I do have an undergraduate degree in biology so I have a decent understanding, but there is much debate over gender, how much is biological how much is cultural etc. So, as I’ve said 1 million times before, I don’t mean all women or all men even if I accidentally say it. But there are differences, and I'm excited to share them and how it affects women's conversations about stress!Show notes post by 7 am CST, Tuesday 5/18.

Episode #62 Todays Hug: Session 3 Book Study for Women: My Soul Sister
05/05/2020 Duración: 20minWelcome to the Stress Club Session 3!So far we have talked about frogs in pots, how we areconditioned that stress it’s just part of life today. In chapter 2 we looked at our stories and the formula for happiness and the influences on how we react to life events. Then in Chapter 3, I gave you an overview of how I studied stress and how it is different from other studies. Today I am sharing with you probably my favorite chapter, my favorite topic of this entire book for women, our language! It’s probably never been in the front of your radar to study the history of women’s language, so let me help you with that today! I’ll give credit to a few women who really paved the way and talk about our language in three different views: Language as Deficient, Language as Different, and Language as Rapport. It's a good one!! Episode #61 Todays Hug: Session 2 Book Study for Women: I'm Not Mad!
28/04/2020 Duración: 20minLast week we laid the foundation and talked about the happiness formula and the importance of choices. That’s what the rest of this book is about, Choices. Remember, this book and study is not about what stresses you out, how you feel when you are stressed, or even managing stress,. It is about the concept of how women talk about stress. This chapter, if you really grab onto it and adopt it, can change your life in many areas, not just stress. I can almost guarantee you that you have not heard of the field of Critical Discursive Psychology. But you are about to, and it's gonna be good! Show notes at https://bit.ly/3f1fM9qCYH61.
