  • 164 Trick or Treating Memories

    31/10/2019 Duración: 51min

Tonight Eric Dwinnells brings Emily Ferguson to the neighborhood he grew up to retrace his old trick-or-treating route as they share some Trick-or-Treat Memories! They'll discuss who gave out the best candies, neighbors who tried to scare kids, neighbors who scared kids without trying, favorite costumes and the last time they went trick-or-treating. And since Eric is a classic over-sharer, you'll also get to hear gossip about some of the kids he grew up with, more about the scary stories he's brother used to tell him, and why it was important to get the spot near the sewer drain at the bus stop. spookyas.com facebook.com/spookyas Music by Occultic Overtones

  • 163 Teen Witch 1989

    25/10/2019 Duración: 49min

I'm going to be honest with you: this episode is ok, but it would have been better if I'd had a guest cohost. Lord knows I tried, but although many people told me how much they love 1989's Teen Witch, nobody was willing to come on and talk about it with me! Is it such a guilty pleasure??? With a special intro from the film's star, Robyn Lively, tonight I'm rewatching Teen Witch for the first time in at least a decade. Does it hold up as the cult classic it's said to be? Why don't more people go crazy over little brother Richie's performance (it's masterful)? Was I Like Boys legit supposed to be a cheer? Who will be the most popular girl? And of course, did they ever top that? All this and more on tonight's Spooky A S! spookyas.com facebook.com/spookyas Original Music by Occultic Overtones

  • 162 Devils and Demons

    05/10/2019 Duración: 53min

Tonight Eric welcomes his broth Dan Dwinnells back to the show as they talk about Devils and Demons. Sure, we all have a loose idea of what these evil creatures are and we're pretty sure we know who runs the show down in Hell...but it turns out the way most of us think of it is totally wrong!  We'll dive into detail about the differences between THE Devil, devils and demons. Lucifer was the leader of the rebellion against God in Heaven. He is the number one fallen angel...but does that mean he is THE Devil? If so...who is Satan? Or Beelzebub? Tonight we'll get into all that plus discuss some of the better and lesser known members of the evil army. We'll also try to pick our patron devil! Research for tonight's episode was pulled primarily from The Devil by Genevieve and Tom Morgan. spookyas.com facebook.com/spookyas Music by Occultic Overtones

  • 161 Ponyhenge & The Wayside Inn

    24/09/2019 Duración: 43min

Enough about that Manson guy, let's take it easy on this episode! Tonight's episode was supposed to be a loving tribute to America's Horror Theme Park: Spooky World..but that did quite pan out so instead Eric Dwinnells and Brian Toney are hitting the road without a script to bring you the almost non-existent yet strangling intriguing story of Ponyhenge in Lincoln, Massachusetts. What is it? Toy ponies in a circle. Why is it? Good question! We'll also travel to the haunted Longfellow's Wayside Inn of Sudbury, Massachusetts to learn about it's ghost, Jerusha! Her story is probably deserving of it's own episode, and maybe one day we'll get to it, but tonight you'll get the bare bones before we travel down the road to visit the famous schoolhouse that figures into the famous nursery rhyme, "Mary Had A Little Lamb". Oh yes, it's a true story...maybe. Eric and Brain learned way more than they ever wanted to know about this classic tail and they pass that knowledge on to you, Spookaroos! spookyas.com facebook.com/sp

We all know that the assassination of President Lincoln has figuratively haunted the collective conscious of the US since the day it happened in 1865...but some claim it's reach goes far beyond that one moment in time. Tonight we examine the Ghosts of Ford's Theater...both the figurative and literal! • 152 Undertaker vs Underfaker

    21/06/2019 Duración: 52min

It's no secret that Eric was a HUGE wrestling fan growing up. One of his favorite wrestlers is STILL going at it today and just happens to be the spookiest of them all, The Undertaker! Early in his WWF career, Taker was "killed" by Yokozuna, but he promised his spirit would live on and that The Undertaker would return and be "reborn". Fans waited, but for months there was no sign Taker. The Million Dollar Man, Ted Debiase, said, using his millions, he could buy The Undertaker and fans were shocked when he showed up with "the dead man".  But The Undertaker's manager, Paul Bearer, cried foul and said Debiase's Undertaker was nothing but an UnderFAKEr! And so the match was set: at SummerSlam 1994, The Undertaker would battle...The Undertaker?!?! This controversial match has been the subject of debate for the past 25 years, and many fans agree it my be the worst storyline Taker was ever involved in...but are they right? Tonight, Eric and his guest Tyler Clapp re-examine this classic tale and break kayfabe to

  • 151 O.J. Simpson: if I DID IT

    15/06/2019 Duración: 01h18min

Tonight, 25 years after the crime took place, Eric welcomes back true-blue Spookaroo Susan Barrett to give a book report on if I DID IT: Confessions of the Killer by O.J. Simpson.    This book was written by a ghostwriter working off interviews he'd conducted with Simpson. In it, Simpson goes on at length detailing his issues with ex-wife Nicole and then goes on to, hypothetically, explain how he WOULD have killed Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman IF he'd done it. O.J. now denies he had anything to do with this book, however recently released interviews and the details contained in the book strongly suggest otherwise.   spookyas.com facebook.com/spookyas   Music by Occultic Overtones

  • 150 Lights Out

    07/06/2019 Duración: 33min

Long before Tales from the Crypt, The Twilight Zone or even Inner Sanctum, horror had a home on television. Tonight Eric goes old school to discuss Lights Out; television's original horror anthology series. But Lights Out didn't start with television. In fact, TV is basically the end of the story! Long before television, Lights Out was a hugely popular radio show making it's debut in 1934. It was not the first horror-themed radio program, but it was the nastiest. This was thanks in large part to the show's creator/head writer, Wyllis Cooper who had a taste fore gore and a twisted sense of humor. When he left the show, an up and coming young writer named Arch Oboler took over and brought the show to even greater heights. This is what Spookaroos of the 30's and 40's had as their doorway to horror. One particular episode was so memorable that it left lasting impressions on bth disgraced comedian Bill Cosby and novelist Stephen King...beware The Chicken Heart! spookyas.com facebook.com/spookyas Music by Occultic

  • 148 Little Red Riding Hood

    24/05/2019 Duración: 01h01min

Sure, we all know the story of Little Red Ridinghood...or at least we think we do! In the Brother's Grimm version, a little girl in a red cap is swallowed whole by a devious cross dressing wolf, but she is then rescued by a noble huntsman and she lives happily ever after. But unfortunately for Red, in most versions of the tale, that's not how the story ends. Tonight, based on a version of the story told by Professor Hannah B. Harvey in her course, The Art of Storytelling, Eric adds his own take on the fairytale and breaks down the symbols and themes found in the story. Strap in, theres a lot to unpack!   Also, Eric will talk about the show's gofundme campaign and it's possible heavenly origins as well as update you on the possibility of changing the shows name! spookyas.com facebook.com/spookyas Music by Occultic Overtones

  • 147 Ghosts of Mount Wachusett

    15/05/2019 Duración: 28min

Tonight we look at one of the most famous ghost stories of Massachusetts, The Legend of Lucy Keyes and the Ghosts of Mount Wachusett! In the spring of 1755, four-year-old Lucy Keyes went missing from her semi rural home in Princeton, MA. Professionals poured in to help search for Lucy, but eventually all hope was lost and most stopped searching for the girl. Only her mother held out any hope. Most believed a tribe of Native Americans had kidnapped or murdered the girl. Still others believed her quarrelsome neighbor, Tilly Littlejohn, may have known much more than he let on. Some say Lucy never really disappeared. In fact, if you visit Mount Wachusett today, some believe there is a chance you just might run in to the ghost of little Lucy or her mother who roams the trails of the mountain still searching for her daughter. spookyas.com facebook.com/spookyas Music by Occultic Overtones

  • 146 Myths of Massachusetts Vol 1

    03/05/2019 Duración: 33min

You asked for it, and Eric delivers! We're diving into some little local legends that may not have enough information to create an entire episode based on, but when combined together the form Myths of Massachusetts Vol. 1!   We begin in Westford, MA, where some strange clues about the founding of America may lay written in stone. The town is home to what has become known as The Westford Knight: a supposed figure of a Scottish Knight holding his shield and sword carved into a slab of stone. Is it possible that a clan of Knights Templar fled Europe in the 14th century to make a new home in Westford? People have been disagreeing over what the design is and who could have created it since at least the late 19th century. If you visit the knight today, you'll see it has been given a very grand viewing area complete with a probably untrue history presented as complete fact!   Next stop, the scariest road in Billerica, MA: the haunted Dudley Road! Why should this semi-rural, forested road be considered so scary? Acco

  • 145 The Mary Celeste

    23/04/2019 Duración: 42min

In a surprise return to the show, Eric welcomes back Fatima Elmi to talk about the world's most famous ghost ship, The Mary Celeste! Fatima was slightly disappointed when she realized tonight's story did not contain any actual ghost, but it is a great mystery none the less! In 1872, The Mary Celeste was found drifting in the middle of the Atlantic with her sails half set. She had left new York several days earlier with 10 people on board...but now the credit was missing. There was no sign of a struggle and no note left behind. There was no serious damage done to the ship. It's as if the crew and passengers had just vanished into thin air. So what happened? That's what we'll try to figure out on tonight's episode! spookyas.com facebook.com/spookyas Music by Occultic Overtones
