  • 186 How To Deal With Tennis Cheaters

    27/03/2020 Duración: 27min

One of the things that makes tennis a unique sport is that, in most of the matches we play, our opponent is also our umpire. The one person who has a definite interest in having calls go against us is often the very person making those calls. And because of this, because in the vast majority of our matches, there is an absence or a virtual absence of any on-court officials, cheating in tennis is very easy. All you have to do is say "out," and you can win the point. And win it with almost no penalty for this unethical behavior. So what can we do to deal with cheaters in tennis? How can we try to get our opponents to follow the rules? That's what we're talking about in this episode - how to deal with tennis cheaters.GET THE SHOW NOTES:Hi, it's Kim! Thanks for listening! • 184 Corona Virus and Health Precautions for Tennis Players

    13/03/2020 Duración: 13min

Hey all! As I’m recording this episode, it’s March 13, 2020 and things in the world are disconcerting, to put it mildly. So because this is having a big impact not just on our lives, but on our tennis lives, I’m doing a super quick podcast episode here about COVID-19, otherwise known as the Corona Virus. You’ll notice there’s no music and none of the other fancy stuff I usually do in my podcasts. I just wanted to put this together quickly because I think this is an important topic for all of us.The fact is that the threat of Corona Virus is quite serious. We all need to do what we can to prevent the spread and “flatten the curve” and if that means not playing tennis for a while, then that’s what I’ll do. But for now, I’m still playing. And while I’m not a doctor, and nothing I say here should be taken as medical advice, I do have a few safety precautions I’m observing to hopefully keep myself and those around me healthy. And I want to let you know what I’m doing so you can think about what you might do if you

Today, I'm going all the way back to Episode 3 of Tennis Quick Tips, which was called "What To Do When You Win the Spin." And that's because I have a LONG LIST of things I still have never talked about and want to talk about on this podcast. But I decided to re-listen to this episode, thinking I would update it and add some new info, but it turns out that Episode 3 pretty much did a good job of analyzing this episode and explaining what I think you should do when you win the spin. So, listen in to what I had to say way back in Episode 3 and then I'll give you my thoughts on what I do now when this comes up in

    30/12/2019 Duración: 19min

Well, here we are at the end of 2019 and here, at last, is the episode I've been promising. If you've been listening to this podcast in the last few months, you've heard me say that I was going to explain where I was and what I was doing in the two years that went by between Tennis Quick Tips Episode 164 and Episode 165. That's a pretty big gap and a lot happened during that time, not just in my tennis life, but in my life life. I learned a lot about myself during that time and I also found out just how big of an impact tennis has in my life. So today, I'm going to talk about what happened during that two year gap and I'm ultimately going to tell you about what I learned about myself and about tennis. I'm going to tell you just how I came to love tennis again. Because it wasn't simple or easy to do. And I wasn't loving tennis at one time. And I'm going to tell you the big life lessons I learned that I am trying to apply to my tennis game now.GET THE SHOW NOTE

They can be simple to understand and easy to apply. So how often have you heard this one? "Take the ball on the rise." Your tennis pro may have said that to you.
