Twilight (w/ Elle Riccardi)
30/10/2020 Duración: 01h49minIt's Halloween time, and you know what that means! Probably. I mean, I guess it would mean something spooky or scary maybe? Maybe like some kind of terrifying monster, like a vampire or something? And we do chick flicks, so you know what that means, maybe! A vampire-or-something chick flick, I suppose! And -- yep, I did a Google search and the only item returned when I look up "vampire-or-something chick flick" is Twilight, so it's your spooky day -- we are finally exploring the 2008 YA adaptation Twilight, and we got our pal and unashamed* sparkly-vampire expert, Elle Riccardi to lend us an ice-cold hand. *Ashamed. A little bit ashamed.

Working Girl
01/10/2020 Duración: 02h29minHave you missed our overlong episodes? I'm being waggish, I know you have not. Folks, as sorry as we are about asking you to listen to us go on and on and on and on about Mike Nichols' 1988 Working Girl, perfectly written by Kevin Wade, we'd be more sorry if we didn't talk, joke, and cry for hours about Mike Nichols' 1988 Working Girl, perfectly written by Kevin Wade. But as we always say to Mick, if you want another podcast, ask another girl.

A Life Less Ordinary
31/08/2020 Duración: 01h38minJohn Hodge and Danny Boyle's 1997 Crime/Comedy/Fantasy/Absurdist Tale brings us a literal and figurative celestial cast and everything else about it, well, it's not logical, but we love it. But is it a chick flick? One bark for yes.

Josie and the Pussycats
29/06/2020 Duración: 01h54minHappy Pride! As every good brand can tell you right now, we are living in difficult times. So difficult, in fact, that we talked for two hours -- just like in the old difficult times! This month's movie is admittedly pretty white, pretty straight, plenty corporate, hella cisgendered, and doesn't wear a mask (mostly), but this month's movie does happen to be Josie and the Pussycats -- the best movie ever; join the army. This episode is a lot, and it is lovingly dedicated to the memory of Adam Schlesinger (October 31, 1967 – April 1, 2020). Outtro music: Way Back into Love, written and performed by Adam Schlesinger Co-host Helen appears on episodes of Deep in Bear Country [Episode 247 - Play Ball!] & We'll Get it Right Next Year: An Adventure in Cinema [Mailbag Apocalypse w/ Helen] Check out Limited Cel, a generational Hanna-Barbera cartoon review show, with Mike and Nick Wood. EPISODE 36: JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS (1970)EPISODE 47: JOSIE AND THE PUSSY CATS IN OUTER SPACE

Magic Mike (w/ Jon Biegen )
11/05/2020 Duración: 01h06minWell, we kinda lucked into a quarantine McConauMay special event. We recorded one great episode on Magic Mike with our friend Jon Biegen of Stranger Still back in March. Then, when that episode was lost faster than Big-Dick Richie's tearaway pants, we recorded another, even greater episode on Magic Mike with our friend Jon Biegen of Stranger Still in April! And here we are in McConauMay 2020 with a new episode on a new (-to-the-podcast) McConaughey movie and a beloved past McConauMay guest. Everything worked out in the end, and Jon Biegen and Channing Tatum are national treasures. For different, but sometimes similar, reasons. Anyway, enjoy, and happy belated Mother's Day. The movie we're discussing has butts in it.

Pitch Perfect (w/ Dan McCoy)
06/04/2020 Duración: 01h22minNothing makes a woman feel more like a girl than a man who sings like a boy, and nothing makes a chick flick fan feel more like a real podcaster than a very special guest. We were delighted to have The Flop House Podcast's own Dan McCoy join us -- from a very safe distance -- to talk about the 2012 aca-hit Pitch Perfect. We find harmony with Anna Kendrick et al, but we also find plenty to criticize -- so listeners like you don't call the movie names behind its back. You can hear more from Dan at flophousepodcast.com, follow him at @dankmccoy on Twitter, or catch some of his Emmy-award-winning writing on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.

Bonus: The Three Diminutive Pigs
01/04/2020 Duración: 29minIt's April the first! And here we are with a new episode, just for you! Just kidding! It's an old episode that was originally just for paying Patrons, but since the world and network fell apart, we're sharing it with you now! In this bonus episode, Helen and Valerie analyze a gender-swapped adaptation of the classic story of the Three Little Pigs. Special guests Maintenance Guy and Walter (the dog) also feature. Is this swine story a chick flick? You have to listen to find out! I would just tell you, but I haven't listened through the ep in a while and I don't remember. Stay tuned for a return to full episodes later in the month. And happy April, FiLM Fools!

Hustlers
31/10/2019 Duración: 40minSurprise! It's us. The podcasters you maybe know and maybe love who are maybe on hiatus? We couldn't stay away. We've got catching up to do oh, and did I mention, WE WATCHED HUSTLERS!?!? Happy Haloween, Family! ☠️Many, many thank boos and thank yous to Jon Biegen for producing this hauntingly beautiful rendition of the Falling in Love Montage Theme Song.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (w/ Lauren DeBlasi Jackson)
11/09/2019 Duración: 01h31minIf you're reading this, that means you've found our, err "August episode". Would you believe it, we said Pants so many times it took just forever to edit all of those Plosives.

Love Simon
29/07/2019 Duración: 01h22minWelcome to our Love Simon episode or as I like to call it, after listening back to it, our Veronica Mars - Alvin and the Chipmunks episode.

Steel Magnolias
01/07/2019 Duración: 01h26minHappy 30th Anniversary, Steel Magnolias. We did it! We crossed another "weepy" off the list. Whew! There was no shortage of tear emojis in our notes just as there are no shortage of bad puns in this episode. We even find time to praise and/or objectify the late, great Sam Shepard. Women really can have it all!

Roman Holiday (w/ Millie De Chirico)
28/05/2019 Duración: 01h16minBy popular demand request and because Eddie Albert tells us, "it's always open season on princesses", we talk Roman Holiday with special af guest Millie De Chirico of Turner Classic Movies and TCM Underground.

The Best of Me
31/03/2019 Duración: 01h09minBy unpopular demand, we close out Marchden (or Marsden March) with The Best of Me, the film (a) critic has called, "…a contrived manipulation and an insult to female sensibilities." Written by suspected anti-Semite Nicholas Sparks and filmed in the breathtaking bayou, we try to love this movie with the oppressive sincerity of "lucky roughneck" Dawson Cole (Marsden). It's a miracle.

27 Dresses
19/03/2019 Duración: 01h10minBig news guys, it's our first Katherine Heigl movie—and also—our first James Marsden movie! Is this serendipity or a highly contrived plot similar to that of 2008's 27 Dresses? Either way Marsden March is here or James Marchden or whatever silly name we want to call it. What Men Want
28/02/2019 Duración: 01h05minValerie and Helen took to the theater this month (with friends, yes they have some) to watch 2019's What Men Want. All of their secret thoughts about the film are contained within this episode. So, if you can't read our minds, you may have to listen - which, coincidentally, is also the theme of the film. Thank you for your continued support. Falling in Love Montage podcast turned three this month!

Crazy Rich Asians
29/01/2019 Duración: 01h49minHappy January! We couldn't be more thrilled to pop the lid on 2019 with the discussion of this film, based on the first in a trilogy of books by Kevin Kwan and directed by sweetheart of the podcast, Jon M. Chu. We're talking Crazy Rich Asians y'all! (I can say y'all, I live in Atlanta where it is definitely not snowing).
