  • Good Person. Bad Choices. Part 4: Pride // Jamie Nunnally

    07/05/2023 Duración: 37min

Pride is a trap the world sets for us. In this message, Pastor Jamie Nunnally shares how we can defeat pride.  1 John 2:16 "For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father but are from this world."  What is pride?Pride is a mindset of self-focus that leads to an incorrect assessment our ability and our importance.Romans 12:3 Pride is misplaced confidence in self, instead of God.  Pride can reveal itself through:Arrogance – I am better at something than I really am. Gal. 6:2 "For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself."Assumption – I know more than I really do. 1 Cor. 8:1-2 But knowledge puffs up while love builds up. Those who think they know something do not yet know as they ought to know.Entitlement – I deserve more than I really do.Self-sufficiency – I can handle more than I really can. Control – I am in charge of more than I really a

    30/04/2023 Duración: 43min

Possessions are great, but peace is better. In this message, Lead Pastor Jamie Nunnally shares how we can overcome greed. 1 John 2:16 "For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure (lust of the flesh), a craving for everything we see (thelust of the eyes), and pride in our achievements and possessions (the prideof life). These are not from the Father but are from this world."Lust, Greed, and Pride are the three traps the enemy has set for us in this world. Or, feel more, have more, be more. But God is saying "I am more than enough."  Greed is an unhealthy pursuit of money, wealth and possessions. Greed is more than you need. The world says you have "money problems" when you don't have money. The Bible says you have "money problems" when money has you.Three things the bible says about greed:Greed can derail your walk with Christ.1 Tim 6:9-10 "But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that

    23/04/2023 Duración: 42min

Are you called to be an Ananias? Ananias obeyed the Lord and overcame fear in order to reach someone who didn't know Jesus. In this message, Pastor Jamie Nunnally shares how we can follow the example of Ananias and reach our community with the good news of the love of God.  Acts 9:1-22 Four things we must do to make an impact:Obey God. 1 John 5:3 "Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome." NLTLoving God is not feeling "in love with God," but doing what He says. Obedience is the measure of success in the Kingdom. If you want to know how you are doing with God, ask this: am I obeying.  Obedience is hearing doing. Skip one of those steps and you are now obeying.  Be Courageous.1 John 4:18 "There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love." NASBOnce you fully grasp how much God loves you, you can freely love others without fear.  3. Honor others2

    16/04/2023 Duración: 34min

We all need wisdom concerning lust. Lust is not only related to sexual desire, but can be a craving for anything that we don’t have and shouldn’t have. In this message, Pastor Jamie Nunnally shares how we can walk free from all types of lust.  1 John 2:16 “For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure (lust of the flesh), a craving for everything we see (the lust of the eyes), and pride in our achievements and possessions (the pride of life). These are not from the Father but are from this world.”Lust, Greed, and Pride are the three traps the enemy has set for us in this world. Lust is an unhealthy craving or longing for something you don’t have, can’t have, or shouldn’t have. Lust is fascination turned obsession, with what is not yours. We can lust after food, fame, power, money, sex, possessions, etc. In the OT Hebrew its translated “covet” and is the 10th  commandment.Exodus 20:17 Coveting and lusting are the same thing. Why does God care? Because He is trying to protect you and protect others f

You're a pretty good person, right? But we all make bad choices sometimes. In this message, Pastor Jamie Nunnally kicks off a new series “Good Person, Bad Choices” with a message called "Slip, Trip & Fall." Most of us aren’t actively trying to do the wrong thing. We slip, trip and fall. The Bible calls this sin. Sin is any behavior done on purpose or accidentally, that is outside of God’s behavior boundaries because it hurts you or it hurts others.  1 John 2:16 “For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see , and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father but are from this world.”  How can we avoid bad choices?1. Realize that thoughts precede actions. Prov. 23:7 “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.Prov. 4:23 “Guard your heart above all else for it determines the course of your life.”   2. Recognize that not everything you think is from you. James 3:15 “This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is eart

In this message, Pastor Eric Robertson teaches on the final section of the prayer "deliver us from evil" or as some translations say it, "deliver us from the Evil One".  Believers have a part to play in defeating evil by living offensively and defensively towards the kingdom of darkness. Who is the evil one, and why do we need to be delivered? What we do know about Satan?God created him as an angel and at one point he was good.Gen 3:1, Col 1: 16-17He was punished because of his pride and his goal to become like God. Isaiah 14, Ezekiel 28He is a defeated enemy. His sentence has already been determined and we are just waiting for it to be enacted. Col 2:15, Heb 2:14 The Scriptures tells us, contrary to what some Christians might believe, that Satan is actually ruling over and influencing our world 1 John 5:19  2 Corinthians 4:4 Satan's Will: kill, steal, destroyGod's Will: love, peace, abundant lifeEvil exists because there a

  • Pray Like This, Part 6: Forgive Us Our Debts // Jamie Nunnally

    12/03/2023 Duración: 39min

Does God expect us to forgive everyone for everything they’ve done to us?  In this message, Pastor Jamie Nunnally continues the series about the Lord’s Prayer, focusing on the line: "Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors."  The Lord’s Prayer: Matthew 6:9-13  Today, “forgive us our debts and we forgive our debtors.” Forgiveness: Greek - to send away, release, or to set free with the implication to leave alone.Debt: metaphor for sin. Matthew 6:14-15 “If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.”Forgiveness is a two-sided coin: heads, I’m forgiven. Tails, I forgive. You can’t separate the receiving of forgiveness from the releasing of forgiveness. How you respond to other people’s sin reveals how much like Jesus you are. We must accept God’s forgiveness.1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” God

  • Pray Like This, part 5: Our Daily Bread // Jamie Nunnally

    05/03/2023 Duración: 34min

Does Jesus really want us to ask the Father to give us food every day? In this message, Pastor Jamie Nunnally continues the series about the Lord’s Prayer, focusing on the line: "Give us this day our daily bread." This is the first time in Jesus’ model prayer that we ask for something for ourselves. The word “daily” here means only what is necessary for today. You could say “sustain us with what we need for today.” Manna in wildernessExodus 16:2-5; 13-31 Notice, God gave it to them and he gave them only what they needed for the day: the two request in the Lord’s prayer.  Manna was training for dependence on God and contentment for today.  Why pray for our daily bread?1. Dependence on God.John 15:5 “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.”Since our culture is so fiercely fights for our independence politically, Christians will have to fiercely fight for our dependence spiritually. The lie of our cu

  • Pray Like This, Part 4: Your Will be Done // Tiffany Nunnally

    26/02/2023 Duración: 42min

We've all had times when we struggled to know God's will. How can we grow in our understanding of God's will for our lives? In this message, Tiffany Nunnally continues the series about the Lord’s prayer and shares about the next line: "Your will be done." In order to say “Your will be done," we also must say "my will be gone.”Ephesians 5:17 “So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.” You can know the will of God!How is it in heaven? Rev. 21:4 “no more death, sorrow, crying or pain” God’s general will for everyone is found in the written word of God.“How can you know what the will of God is when you don’t know what the word of God says?” - Derek Prince God’s specific will for you is found in the spoken word of God.1 Corinthians 2:9-12 “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.”10 But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. What is God's kingdom and how do we access it? In this message, Pastor Jamie Nunnally continues our series on the Lord's Prayer. He shares biblical insights that help us access the kingdom of God now.  Matthew 6:9-13 “Pray along these lines: ‘Our Father in heaven, we honor your holy name. We ask that your kingdom will come now. May your will be done here on earth, just as it is in heaven. Give us our food again today, as usual, and forgive us our sins, just as we have forgiven those who have sinned against us. Don’t bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the Evil One. Amen.’” What is the Kingdom of God?God’s rule and God’s reign displaying God’s will and way. The kingdom of God is God’s government currently active in heaven, demonstrated on earth by Jesus, offered to humanity, and accessed through obedience to God’s instructions. Government: rule, reign, method, system, directions, his preferences.Isaiah 9:6 Active in heaven: Heaven is already under God’s rule. That’s why we pray for heaven t

  • Pray Like This, Part 2: Hallowed Be Your Name // Jamie Nunnally

    12/02/2023 Duración: 37min

What does "hallowed" mean? How do you hallow God's name? In this message, Pastor Jamie Nunnally explains why it is important to hallow God in prayer. Hallowed is actually a verb, not an adjective, that’s why they saw “hallowed be.” Hallowed is often translated holy, but holy is an adjective. Hallowed be thy name is not observing God’s holiness, its declaring God’s holiness. When we declare God’s holiness, we call that worship. To put it in modern day language we use, We would pray “Father in Heaven, I acknowledge that  your name is holy, so I worship you.”  This second line of the Lord’s prayer is a pause for praise. Today’s big idea: start your prayerwith worship! Why start prayer with worship?1. To prevent pride.  Worship puts the focus on someone other than ourselves. Matthew 6:5-6When we pray, we should value honesty over artistry. Don’t try to impress anyone—just be yourself. John 4:24 “For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”Truth here is authentic

  • Pray Like This, Part 1: Our Father // Jamie Nunnally

    05/02/2023 Duración: 37min

Do you consider God your father? What does it mean to have a Heavenly Father? In this message, Pastor Jamie Nunnally unpacks the significance of knowing God as your Father.  Matthew 6:9-13 “Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. 10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread, 12 and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” Our Father (in heaven)At the time, Father was a shocking way to refer to God. No other religious tradition thinks of God as a Father.Romans 8:15-16  "Abba” and “eema” are the Aramaic equivalent to our English “dad and mom.” Used by Jesus in Mark 14:16 and used by Paul twice in Romans 8:15 and Galatians 4:6. The rest of the prayer is meant to be said as if you’re talking to a father! John 16:22-24 We live in a fatherless society: According to fatherhood.org, 25% of children live without a father in the home. 33% live wit

  • Make Room for God’s Presence // Jamie Nunnally

    29/01/2023 Duración: 40min

How can you experience God’s presence? In this message, Pastor Jamie Nunnally shares how we can make room for God’s presence in our lives. Make Room – you’re full of whatever you’ve been feeding on. If you want to be full of something different this year, you have to make room for it. You were made to be with God, and God wants to be with you. The key to experiencing God’s presence is awareness.Isaiah 6:3“Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.”Habakkuk 2:14 The whole earth is filled with the potential of God’s presence, but He is waiting for us to give Him our attention and tune to the right frequency. If you’ll look for God everywhere, you can find God anywhere. How to make room for God’s presence:Exodus 33:12-14 1. Invitation.Revelation 3:20“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.”God has created the pathway to His presence—now you get to invite Him into your life. Exodus 3
